Zabbar Pilgrimage 2011

Once again the Malta Red Cross took part in the traditional pilgrimage on Sunday 11th September 2011 to celebrate the feast of Our Lady Of Graces in Zabbar. The meeting point for the cyclists was in Rabat in front of the Roman Villa while for the motorcyclists it was in Mosta.
During this event no Red Cross Ambulance was present, but there were support vehicles and the renewed Malta Red Cross bike team which was fully equipped. The bike team which is sponsored by Pedal Power consists of eight cyclists. Before the pilgrimage started, all bike team members ensured that they had their helmets and that their first aid kits were well stocked.
The cyclists together with the motorcyclists met in Fgura and together they followed a van which carried the titular painting of Our Lady Of Graces. Every year the number of cyclists is increasing and it’s gaining popularity around the Maltese Island.
When the pilgrimage arrived in the main road in front of the parish church in a cacophony of horns, the Archbishop Paul Cremona gave his blessing.
A big well done goes to the Malta Red Cross bike team members and volunteers who participated in this annual event.
